Snorkeler’s Sea Salt IPA

Insel-Brauerei Snorkeler’s Sea Salt is a non-alcoholic IPA brewed with Baltic Sea salt, which is not so unusual for this beer, since “Insel” means “Island” and the brewery is named as such because its located on Germany’s largest island, Rügen, and thus surrounded by the sea.

In the glass this IPA presents as a dark orange colour that is hazy and apparently not filtered. It has a white foam crown that quickly reduces to a light head. The aroma of floral aromas includes lychees and grapefruit. It has a full bodied mouthfeel and hop bitterness rules the taste, with strong bitterness at the start and end of each sip and is around 40 IBUs. The salt notes are subdued and not overly apparent.

Snorkeler’s Sea Salt IPA has sparkling, fruity and bitter components that perfectly complement each other but it is Insel’s master stroke of adding Baltic Sea salt that makes this beer such a very special experience.
